What you need to know About Carpet care

  1. Carpet care

We prefer the term Carpet Care.  You may have loose rugs, or fitted carpets in your home.   Some people fear that once the carpets have been “steam cleaned” they will never be the same.

This can be true, if the methods used are not correct, or if the person doing the job is not properly trained and experienced.

Hot water, sprayed under pressure into a carpet can be disastrous.

The heat can lessen the tension in a fitted carpet and loosen the glues holding the thread in place and joins. You will have wavy, stretched carpets. “Oh dear! What a mess”  discover the do-it-yourselfers.

Back to Carpet Care.

Regular vacuuming is essential. Even if the carpet or rug looks OK.

Airbourne pollutants settle. The dust and dirt carried in,  can be like sandpaper under your shoes. Our beloved pets also bring in dirt.

How often should I vacuum?

Count the number of feet coming and going,  in your home or office.

Spots:  Spills of milk, coffee, wine etc should be wiped up immediately. Before they are tramped in.  Use an absorbent towel or sponge, working inwards to avoid spreading. Then rub harder with a towel to get it all out. A crumb brush or a dustpan with brush or broom can be useful.

How often should you call Magic Carpet Care?

Families with children and pets sometimes call us twice a year. We will show you or your housekeeper how to treat spots with “Dri-Max”.

You can buy a tub, and even get a complimentary tub sometimes.

Once a year could suffice if you are vacuuming frequently,  and spotting.

Remember, you can clean spots IF your carpet is generally clean. Otherwise you will just have a clean spot. Not good.  Proper care of carpets and rugs will save hard earned cash in the long run.
